On Saturday, September 16, 2023, a guest exhibition entitled Heritage for the Future and Revitalization of Traditional Skills will open in the Museum "Staro selo" Kumrovec. The exhibition is the result of inter-museum and international cooperation between two open-air museums that have been cooperating for many years.

Through this exhibition, video material and the publication that forms its accompanying part, the author Snežana Tomić, ethnologist and museum advisor of the Museum "Staro selo" Sirogojno, based on the material collected during field research and experience gained in cooperation with local communities, presents and promotes the tradition of knowledge and skills, cultural heritage that represented the basis for the development of local communities and the strengthening of local identity.

The exhibition Heritage for the Future and Revitalization of Traditional Skills is dedicated to craftsmen, holders of knowledge and skills from the Zlatibor district and beyond, who apply their skills in the manual production of traditional products that are still in demand today. Preserved craft skills are a living heritage and as such are part of an intangible cultural heritage. In a large number of cases, the communities where they are practiced recognize them as a feature of cultural identity with local peculiarities and represent cultural assets registered in the National Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage, while the skill of making pottery products on a hand wheel in the village of Zlakuša is included in the UNESCOR representative list of the intangible heritage of humanity.
