International workshop „PREVENT – flood risk mitigation for cultural heritage“ in Trogir
Between September 22 and October 1 of this year, an international workshop called „PREVENT – flood risk mitigation for cultural heritage“ was held, organized by ICCROM (International Center for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property) and the Conservation Department in Trogir in cooperation with the city of Trogir.
The aim of the workshop is to exchange knowledge and experience on dealing with floods that threaten cultural heritage. The participants of the workshop are experts from various heritage institutions from Croatia, Poland, Canada, Malta, India, Romania, Sudan and Syria.
Tihana Kušenić, curator of the Museum „Staro selo“ Kumrovec and Anja Radelić from the Conservation Department in Krapina of the Ministry of Culture and Media participated in the workshop as representatives of the Croatian team.
As part of the workshop, a round table was organized with a focus on historical cities such as Trogir, which are threatened by flooding and rising sea levels due to climate change. Representatives of local and regional authorities and experts in the field of cultural heritage and related disciplines attended with the aim of exchanging experiences, good practices and proposals for potential solutions.
As representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Media, the sessions were attended by the minister's envoy and director of the Directorate for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Tomislav Petrinec, director of the Directorate for Archives, Libraries and Museums Anuška Deranja Crnokić, head of the Conservation Department in Trogir Jasna Popović and senior advisor in the Directorate for International Cultural Cooperation and European Affairs Pia Sopta.
