Folk sacred art
The exhibition shows objects from the Collection of Folk Sacred Art, which forms part of the holdings of the Museum "Staro selo" Kumrovec, and has a total of 160 objects. Most of the inventory of this collection dates from the 19th century and was acquired in the earliest beginnings of the Museum's activities. The most numerous group of objects consists of Holy pictures printed on paper, the so-called oleographs depicting figures such as Mary, Christ, St. Anne, ST. George, but also pictures with narrative content of biblical scenes of the Last Supper, the Holy Family and others. In addition to the Holy Paintings, the exhibition shows home crucifixes and sacred plastic. In the showcases, objects of textile sacred art from the first half of the 20th century are also exhibited, as well as objects related to spiritual culture - basic religious props: prayer books, rosaries, votives.
At the opening of the exhibition, the head of the Museum "Staro selo" Kumrovec, Anita Paun Gadža, the author of the exhibition, Tihana Kušenić, addressed the audience, and the exhibition was opened by the mayor of the Municipality of Kumrovec, Robert Šplajt.
The exhibition will be available for viewing until September 15, 2021.
