Traditional manifestation „Patrols of the green George“ and the opening of the Museum's guest exhibition on the Rogatec simple „Donačka gora“

On the premises of the Museum “Staro selo” Kumrovec, with the event „Patrols of the green George“ and the opening of the Museum's guest exhibition on simple Rogatec „Donačka gora“, authored by Irene Roškar and Emilija Štrlek, we marked the beginning of the economic year, the awakening of nature and the feast of St. George. 

The program started already in the morning with presentations of traditional crafts and skills, and visitors to the museum could learn about the production of children's wooden toys, auctioneers, blacksmiths' items, basket weaving and traditional embroidery.
In the afternoon, visitors participated in a workshop on making spring flowers from crepe paper under the leadership of Association members Ivan Perkovac from Šenkovac. Augustin (Gustek) Fric presented visitors with the way shepherd's toys from Slovenia are made.
At the opening of the exhibition, the head of the Museum „Staro selo“ Kumrovec, Anita Paun-Gadža, greeted those present. Tatjana Brlek, museum consultant and museum pedagogue, told more about the collaboration itself, and the exhibition „Donačka gora“ was presented by Nives Brezovnik. The opening program of the exhibition was accompanied by folk songs from Rogatec performed by the Human Singers of the Anton Stefancios Cultural Society from Rogatec. The exhibition was opened by the director of the Museum of Croatian Zagorje, Jurica Sabol.
After the opening of the exhibition, the presentation of Jurjev customs presented by the members of KUD Mihovil Krušlin and the Ivan Perkovac Association from Šenkovac began. The author of the all-day program „Ophodi Jure zelenog“ is the curator ethnologist Tihana Kušenić.


According to tradition, the program ended with the lighting of the Jurjev bonfire with song and dance, and then the tasting of the traditional dish of chirps.
The exhibition remains open until the 1st. 6. 2024.
