The museums of Hrvatski Zagorje have prepared a new unique museum-educational program for their visitors called On the Horse in Museums. The program is implemented over five weekends from November 5 to December 4 and is intended for families with children. All five museum units are included in it, and each deals with the topic of horses in a certain way. Thus, in the Museum of Krapina Neanderthals, it is possible to learn more about the past and anatomy of horses, Antun Augustinčić's Gallery in Klanjec deals with horses in art, in the Museum "Staro selo" Kumrovec, which are shown as traditional wooden children's toys, the Museum of Peasants' Revolts tells the story of a military horse, while in the Veliki Tabor Palace the emphasis is on the use of horses for the purpose of transportation.
The Museum "Staro selo" Kumrovec will present the horse to the participants of the program as a traditional wooden toy. Children will meet horses of different sizes independently and in carts in the permanent museum exhibition "Making children's wooden toys and folk pipes".Discovering the colors and ornaments on toys that connoisseurs of traditional skills painted at the beginning of the 20th century, program participants will paint their own wooden horse. The way of making and painting children's wooden toys in Hrvatski Zagorje has been unchanged for generations, so for this reason the art of making wooden toys in Hrvatski Zagorje is on the List of Protected Intangible Cultural Properties entered in the Register of Cultural Properties of the Republic of Croatia, and in 2009 it was entered on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
Visitors participate in the program by paying the price of one workshop, which is HRK 46 per person, ', which includes a wooden horse to work on, an appropriate educational booklet, and the possibility of free participation in workshops in other organizational units of the Museum of Croatian Zagorje. The ticket for the permanent exhibition of each museum is paid separately. Participation also leads to the draw for the main prize-mini riding school, which was provided for the happiest student by the partner of the program-center "Rhythm with a Horse" from Stubički Toplice. The draw will take place on December 4 in Kumrovac with the lighting of the second Advent candle, the arrival of St. Nicholas and Krampusau, a carriage pulled by horses, and the distribution of sweet surprises to all the children who come.
