Opening of the exhibition Sweet secrets of the medical trade as part of Saturday in Etno selo
On Saturday, October 29, 2019, at the "Staro selo" Kumrovec Museum, the traditional Saturday event was held in Etno selo, designed with the aim of preserving, nurturing and presenting the intangible cultural heritage of Hrvatsko Zagorje. This year, the event took place as part of the European Heritage Days, which are dedicated in the museum to mark the 50th anniversary of the inclusion of the Museum "Staro selo" Kumrovec in the Register of Monuments of the 1st category.
The program of this year's event began with a presentation of traditional crafts and skills along with the museum's permanent exhibitions. The central part of the event was the opening of the exhibition Sweet Secrets of the Medical Craft by Tihana Kušenić. The exhibition is dedicated to the production of candlestick medicinal products and to families who are still engaged in this trade in the area of Krapina Zagorje County. Objects from the holdings of the Collection of Tools and tools of the Museum "Stao selo" Kumrovec are also shown. The Medicarsko Svećarski obrt is one of the oldest crafts in the world that has been present in these regions for centuries. Licitar products have remained handmade to this day, painted with traditional techniques, and each product is unique, and each master is responsible for the recognition of licitar as a symbol of national identity.
The opening of the exhibition with the recitation of appropriate songs in dialect was accompanied by Nevenka Gregurić, and the head of the Museum addressed the visitors of the exhibition with a few appropriate wordsStaro selo" Kumrovec Tatjana Brlek, mayor of Kumrovec municipality Robert Šplajt, author of the exhibition Tihana Kušenić and Vlasta Hubicki, president of the KZŽ assembly, president of traditional crafts OKKZŽ and owner of the oldest medical trade Zozolly, which has been operating since 1882, which also opened the exhibition. Visitors could also enjoy the rich folklore stage programperformed by the Zabok Ensemble, which presented the preparation of the dowry for the bride and the presentation of the wedding customs of the Zabok region, and performed by the Ethno Association "Zipka" from Kumrovac, which presented the wedding customs of these regions, which have been performed in the museum for 36 years.
