On the occasion of European Heritage Day, a special exhibition was opened yesterday in the Museum "Staro selo" Kumrovec, which marked the seventieth anniversary of the museum. Seventy years speaks volumes about the development of an institution that, through its activities, changed and extended its own knowledge, but also the knowledge of the inhabitants in whose environment it grew.

From a small, memorial museum arranged within one building in the center of the Kumrovec settlement, over seventy years it has grown into a unique open-air museum, which today has about thirty restored or reconstructed residential and commercial buildings, valuable examples of rural construction from the turn of the 19th to the 20th century. The photo-documentary exhibition shows the development of the museum from the very beginning until today, when the museum has become an increasingly attractive cultural and tourist destination with its rich contents. Anita Paun Gadža, head of the museum, spoke about the exhibition itself and the museum activity of the Museum "Staro selo", and the former director of ROSpomenpark Kumrovec, Nikola Filko, mentioned the most important events that preceded the decoration of the Museum. Museum pedagogue Tatjana Brlek gave a brief overview of the beginnings of museum-educational programs in the museum. The mayor of the municipality of Kumrovec, Robert Šplajt, also addressed those present, who thanked all the museum employees for their cooperation so far.

Before the opening of the exhibition on behalf of the prefect of Krapina-Zagorje County, the head of the administrative department for education, culture, sports and technical culture, Mirjana Smičić Slovenec, awarded the Museum "Staro selo" Kumrovec a Certificate of Appreciation on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of its work, for its contribution to the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage and for the promotion of Krapina-Zagorje County in the country and in the world.

Klapa Brv participated in the appropriate music program, and visitors to the museum could also get to know the presenters of traditional crafts, which today represent the wealth of intangible cultural heritage.
