Roadside crosses and chapels, devotees of Kumrovac and its surroundings
On Saturday, April 15, 2023, starting at 4:00 p.m., the exhibition "Crosses of the ways and chapels devotees of Kumrovec and its surroundings" by Tatjana Brlek will open in the Museum "Staro selo".
The exhibition is the result of research from the area of Kumrovac and neighboring 14 villages: Donji Škrnik, Kladnik, Gornji Škrnik, Brezakovec, Pušća, Kuzminec Miljanski, Zagorska Sela, Plavić, Risvica, Ravno Brezje, Velinci, Razdrto Tuheljsko, Dugnjevec, Razvor which documented 39 crosses and devotees. In addition to photographs of crosses that are now in the mentioned villages, the exhibition shows the time and reason for raising the crucifix or the devotee, who is responsible for the raising, and information about the masters who made them. The reasons for erecting crucifixes and chapels, as well as crucifixes in the life of the village then and now, are presented.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog created in collaboration between the author and Vitomir Zamuda from Klanjec, who enriched the catalog with texts and other articles. Davorin Vujčić, who is responsible for photographing the crucifixes and chapels found.
The exhibition and catalog were realized thanks to the Ministry of Culture and Media.
The exhibition remains open until June 12, 2023.
