SMOKE-TALE OF TOBACCO
The exhibition is designed according to its units: A brief history of tobacco in which the meaning of tobacco in pre-Columbian America is dealt with and its spread throughout the world. As a whole, Herba fiscalis shows the economic importance of tobacco for the traditional economy as well as for the state coffers.
The presented smoking utensils include clay pipes that were made in Zelovo near Sinj, unique pipes by a contemporary master from Zagreb, but also Japanese sour. The aids in the ways of enjoying tobacco reflect the efforts of the elites to separate the rituals that accompanied the snorting of tobacco or smoking pipes from the common people. The entirety of Cigarettes in Advertising Language and Cigarettes in Film talk about the recent past in which the cigarette played a major role. The last topic is the prohibition of tobacco abuse throughout history. The opening of the exhibition was graced by the presence of MP Marija Puh, Mayor of Desinić Municipality Zvonko Škreblin, Deputy Mayor of Kumrovec Municipality Danijela Lončar and Director of the Museum of Croatian Zagorje Nadica Jagarčec.
The opening of the exhibition was followed by the performance of the Ethno Association "Zipka" from Kumrovac and the music school from Pregrada.
