Traditional manifestation „Patrols of Green George“ and the opening of the Museum's guest exhibition on the Rogatec „Donačka gora“

As soon as Easter has passed, April 23, the feast of St. George, who is revered in Zagorje by many residents of Krapina – Zagorje County.
Memorial Day of St. George celebrates as a shepherd's holiday and the real beginning of spring and the economic year. 

In the folk tradition, St. George, protector of shepherds, livestock, land, crops and greenery. Greenery is the color of vegetation and symbolizes hope, the victory of spring over winter, the victory of life over death. On that day, houses, stables, cattle and courtyard approaches were decorated because people believed that they would drive away demons. It is therefore not surprising that this saint is the patron saint of Hrvatski Zagorje, and Jurjev customs from the area of northwestern Croatia have the property of cultural property and are on the List of Protected Intangible Cultural Properties of the Republic of Croatia.

On April 13, 2024, from 5 p.m. after the opening of the guest exhibition “Donačka gora” of the Museum on simple Rogatec, the traditional manifestation „Ophodi Jure zelenog“ will be held. This year, Jurjev customs will be presented by Mihovila Krušlin's KUD and the Ivan Perkovac Association from Šenkovac, and the author of the entire program of events is the curator ethnologist Tihana Kušenić
According to tradition, the program will end with the lighting of the Jurjev bonfire with song and dance, and then the tasting of the traditional dish of chirps.

15:30 - Workshop for making spring flowers from crepe paper – workshop leaders are members of the Ivan Perkovac Association from Šenkovac
16:30 - Opening of the Museum's guest exhibition on simple Rogatec „Donačka gora“
17:00 - Presentation of George's customs performed by KUD Mihovil Krušlin and the Ivan Perkovac Association
17:30 - traditional St.George bonfire with  songs and dance
