When white lilies bloom
On Friday, August 30, 2024, in the Museum „Staro selo“ Kumrovec, the guest exhibition „When white lilies bloom“, by Miroslav Šarić, museum employee of the Native Museum of Našice, was opened.
Visitors to the museum were presented with the tangible and intangible heritage of worshiping St. Anthony of Padua in the Našić and Slatina regions. The exhibition is enriched with numerous devotional images, prayer books, rosaries, votive objects, devotional objects and objects made of wax. Many believers show their devotion and piety to St. Anthony of Padua.
At the ceremonial opening of the exhibition, the manager of the Museum "Staro selo" Kumrovec, Anita Paun-Gadža, spoke about the author of the exhibition, museum worker, collector, worshiper of traditional heritage Miroslav Šarić. The author of the exhibition introduced the audience to the exhibition, noting that the exhibition is divided into two parts, intangible and material heritage in the celebration of Antunov. He pointed out that popular piety followed the rules of the church itself and that the faithful do not expect a miracle from these objects that are exhibited, but serve as a visualization during prayer.
In the musical part of the program, along with the author of the exhibition, Anita Huđek, a professional dancer and singer, artist in the Lado Ensemble, performed with the song Kad blvatu bijeli ljiljani from the village of Sopje and Bećarac with lyrics in which St. Antun.
The exhibition was opened by the mayor of Kumrovec Municipality, Robert Šplajt.
The exhibition can be viewed until October 5, 2024.
